Celebration of our 35th Wedding Anniversary

Our wedding day.
Beautiful Bride

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
Proverbs 10-12

To my wife Liz of 35 years of wonderful marriage…

Over 35 years ago, Liz and had met at our company and began spending more time together playing tennis with friends. One weekend, we were hiking up Stone Mountain. As I reached out to help her over a large rock, she grabbed my hand and did not let go. In that moment, I suddenly realized that our relationship might be becoming more than just friendship. Little did I know that the prayers I had offered years before were being answered, as God had somehow placed me in her path and gently guided her heart toward mine.

While she has always been blessed with outward beauty, it is her inner qualities—her heart and soul—that truly set her apart and that I cherish so deeply. I have never met anyone quite like her, and I know I never will.

She has a deep and steadfast love for God, His creation, and especially His animals.

She loves life and possesses an adventurous spirit, always eager to travel, experience new things, and continue learning.

She is a devoted follower of Jesus, full of compassion, grace, and genuine care for others. She has a servant’s heart and faithfully helps those whom God places in her path.

She is an amazing and loving stepmom to our two children and a wonderful Grammie to our granddaughter.

She is exceptionally intelligent and has the ability to accomplish any task she sets her mind to. Through successful careers in both business and medicine, I have come to realize that she can achieve anything she desires.

Now, after many years have passed, with more wrinkles on my face and more aches in my body than I care to admit, I still feel the powerful presence of her devotion, respect, commitment, and love. You will often find us hiking a trail somewhere, and as I hold out my hand, she takes it and does not let go. In those moments, the truth washes over me once again, reminding me just how blessed I truly am.

So, with great joy, I want to say this to her once again:

“I love you so much and could not imagine a single minute without you. Happy 35th Wedding Anniversary, sweetheart.”
